Wedding season is around the corner

We have a lot of brides that come through Yellow Bird Fabrics. Each one is unique and we feel honored to help them with their weddings in any way we can. We are always interested to see what comes out of our fabrics and ask them to share their photos with us. Katie Lewis Hagen sent me these photos and gave me permission to share them with you. I think they are absolutely gorgeous! Congratulations Katie!

Christmas Trees Galore

I love Christmas! For the past decade I have been involved with Festival of Trees. For those of you that don't know what Festival of Trees is, it is an annual event that showcases Christmas trees that have been donated to auction off and raise money for Primary Children's Medical Center. I think it is such a great cause and it always puts me in the Christmas spirit. This year I put birds on the trees since it was donated by Yellow Bird Fabrics. My family helped me decorate them and I think they are pretty cute. If you want to check them out along with hundreds of other fabulous trees go to Festival of Trees at the South Town Expo Center December 2nd-5th 10am -10pm. http://www.festivaloftreesutah.org

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Yellow Bird Fabrics. Come in and buy something from our "Notion Tree." All sewing notions are $3 and the proceeds go to Project Amigo. Project Amigo is another one of those great causes to give to during the holidays and year round. They provide educations and medical/dental services that would not otherwise be available to the people of Colima Mexico. http://www.projectamigo.org Happy Holidays from Yellow bird Fabrics!

Thankful

I have discovered that this truly is my passion. How lucky I am to be able to go to work everyday and love what I do. I sell beautiful things that make people feel beautiful. I provide a product that can't be found anywhere else in the state of Utah. I help preserve amazing arts, crafts and textiles. I love being able to help my customers and I love that they are able to help me, they are fountains of knowledge. It's like Christmas when ever the UPS truck rolls up. Even though I am paying for them, I still get so excited to open packages of fabric. I used to think I would never find satisfaction in a job where I wasn't helping change the world and save lives. I always thought I would be a humanitarian that would travel the world and build schools, dig wells, help grow crops, etc. It's kind of an awesome feeling, being content and feeling gratification from a job, even if it is somewhat trivial or menial. I thank you with all my heart for your help and support. You have made Yellow Bird Fabrics possible and for this I am indeed grateful.

Cojolya

Several years ago I had the amazing opportunity to live in Santiago Atitlan, Guatemala. I lived with and worked for a women named Candis Krummel. Candis started an organization called Cojolya to help the Tzutujil women and preserve Mayan weaving. It was with the Cojolya organization that I first learned to weave on a backstrap loom. I fell in love with textiles all over again and I fell in love with the Guatemalan people. I feel a strong connection with this cause and I encourage you to check out their web-site and support them however you can.
P.S. The "Basket Weave Bag" is a bag that I designed while I was an intern with Cojolya.

Fashion Stoll pictures

I know Fashion Stroll was a month ago, but I forgot to post these photos of the other outfits I made. They are all constructed with "Yellow Bird" fabrics. All of the accessories are made by Lisa DeFrance and Sonja Blackam of "Shift." They are amazing designers and they were so much fun to collaborate with.
