Little ladies

My mom made these darling Christmas dresses for my nieces. Of course she got the fabric at Yellow Bird Fabrics and we still have a little bit of it left. The flowers are also available at the store. They are are on sale right now and they make wonderful accessories.

Leena is amazing!

Leena made this beautiful batik quilt for her niece's new baby. What a lucky baby! I love the colors, shapes and patterns.

Great

As you walk into Yellow Bird Fabrics the first yellow bird to greet you sits on the sewing table in our small entry way. The bird was given to me by my grandmother, Edith Lyman Powell Smith Frost. Most members of our family just called her Great (short for great grandma, but also because she was truly great). She was an inspiration to me, a woman of many talents and incredible traits. She taught me to enjoy the little things in life. My appreciation of nature, music and sewing can be attributed to her. She was the most kind and gentle woman I have ever met. She never failed to encourage me and tell me how proud she was of me and my little store. Thank you Great for the life you lived and the amazing impact you had on my life.

What a Hoot!

I made these owl beanies as birthday gifts for my nieces. I think they so cute and their hats aren't so bad either.

Happy New Year!

Everyday, at Yellow Bird we are surrounded by beautiful fabric, but it is not every day that we have an occasion to wear it. Amber and I were inspired to get dressed up for this New Year's Eve. We both made our dresses out of silk dupioni and the patterns were both vintage. Amber's dress was made from "Decades of Style" pattern #4003. We sell it at the shop if anyone is interested.

We hope 2011 is a wonderful year for all of you. Thanks for supporting Yellow Bird Fabrics!
