September Classes

Join us every night for something different and fun. We hope to see you soon!

Monday Nights; Sewing Techniques

These classes will teach basic, but essential techniques used in everyday sewing. Students will make samples of each technique to have for future reference.

Zippers

Date and time: Monday, Sept. 20th 6:00-8:00 pm

Objective: Learn to put in both a lap and invisible zipper

Cost: $35 materials included

Bound Button Holes

Date and time: Monday, Sept. 27th 6:00-8:00 pm

Objective: This class will teach you the advanced tailoring technique of bound button holes

Cost: $35 materials included

Tuesday Nights; Skirts

Join us on Tuesdays and learn how to make different skirts to suit every occasion.

Exposed Elastic Waistband Skirt

Date and time: Tuesday, Sept. 7th 6:00-7:30 pm and continued on Tuesday, Sept. 14th 6:00-7:30 pm

Objective: To recreate the popular exposed elastic waistband skirt. Make a full and flirty skirt. Use a gather stitch and apply a modern twist to a classic style. Great for beginners!

Cost: $40 + the cost of materials

Pencil Skirt

Date and Time: Tuesday, Sept. 21st 6:00- 8:00 pm and continued on Tuesday, Sept. 28th 6:00-8:00 pm

Objective: Sew the perfect skirt for this fall while practicing some pattern making. Not only will you get a beautiful skirt, you will also get a customized pattern from your own measurements.

Cost: $50 + the cost of materials

Wednesday Nights; Knits

If you're not sewing with knits, you are missing out. Come in and try it out. We're sure you will love it.

Knits for Beginners

Dates and times: Wednesday, Sept. 8th 6:00-8:00 pm and continued on Wednesday, Sept. 15th 6:00-8:00 pm

Objective: For those who are just learning to sew with knits, broaden your knowledge by:

Learning basic types of knit fabrics

Discussing what projects can be made with knits

Using a serger and practicing basic finishing techniques

Project: A basic t-shirt, the building block for all knit projects

Cost: $50 + the cost of materials

Intermediate Knits

Dates and times: Wednesday, Sept. 22nd 6:00– 8:00 pm and continued on Wednesday, Sept. 29th 6:00- 8:00 pm

Objective: For the more experienced seamstress that has not had the opportunity to work with knit fabrics, here is your chance to learn more by:

A brief overview of serger use and types of knit fabrics

Practicing more advanced construction and sewing techniques

Project: A basic knit dress

Cost: $50 + the cost of materials


Thursday Nights; Accessories

Accessorize every out fit to show off your creative personal style.

Tie Making Class

Date and time: Thursday, Sept. 9th 6:00-8:00 pm

Objective: Learn how to make a necktie while practicing couture hand sewing techniques.

Cost: $30 + the cost of materials

Flower Accessory

Date and time: Thursday, Sept. 16th 6:00-8:00 pm

Objective: Show your creative flare with a hand sewn fabric flower.

Cost: $35 materials included

Birdcage Veil

Date and time: Thursday, Sept. 23rd 6:00-8:00 pm

Objective: Make the popular birdcage veil. Whether you are a bride or you just want a beautiful hair accessory, this class is for you.

Cost: $30 + the cost of materials

Sewing machines will be provided for those without one. We encourage those with sewing machines/sergers to bring them when needed for the class. It is more beneficial to learn these techniques on your own machines.

Students buying materials for Yellow Bird Fabrics' classes will receive a 20% discount.
