Classes!!!

Mother's Day gift
Date and time: Wednesday, May 5th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: Make a special hand crafted Mother's Day gift. Come and make one for your mom or make one for yourself (you are going to want one for yourself)!
Project: Fabric flower accessory; two designs to choose from.
Cost: $25 (all materials included)

Sewing Technique Classes
In this group of classes you will learn basic, but essential techniques used in everyday sewing. Students will make samples of each technique to have for future reference.
Cost: $35 per class (all materials included*)

Zippers
Date and time: Monday, May 10th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: Learn to put in a lap zipper and an invisible zipper

Hems
Date and time: Monday, May 17th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: This class will teach you different ways to hem a garment. These include:
Turned and stitched edge
Easing a hem
Covered hem edges such as Hong Kong Finish
Double stitched hem
Finishing a hem using horse hair braid

Sleeves
Date and time: Monday, May 24th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: Learn how to set different types of sleeves

Seam Finishes
Date and time: Monday, May 31st 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: Give your garments a more finished, professional look by learning different techniques to finish your seams. Techniques include:
French seams
Mock French seams
Hong Kong
Flat-feld
Self bound

Flat Pattern
For those who want to learn how to make and alter patterns
Cost: $30 per class (all materials included)

Moving Bodice Darts
Date and time: Tuesday, May 11th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: In this class you will:
Make basic half size slopers
Move darts using the slash method and the pivot method
Learn about Dart direction

Gathers on Bodice
Date and time: Tuesday, May 25th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: Using half size slopers, you will draft a bodice pattern with gathers instead of darts.

Knits
Learn the skills that are needed to sew with knit fabrics.
Cost: $75 (all materials included*)

Knits for beginners
Dates and times: Wednesday, May 12th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm & Wednesday, May 19th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: For those who are just learning to sew with knits, broaden your knowledge by:
Learning basic types of knit fabrics
Discussing what projects can be made with knits
Using a serger and practicing basic finishing techniques
Project: A basic t-shirt, the building block for all knit projects

Intermediate Knits
Dates and times: Wednesday, May 26th 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm & Wednesday June 2nd
6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: For the more experienced seamstress that has not had the opportunity to work with knit fabrics, here is your chance to learn more by:
A brief overview of serger use and types of knit fabrics
Practicing more advanced construction and sewing techniques
Project: A basic knit dress

Skirts
Fun skirts for every occasion

Gore Skirt
Date and time: Thursday, May 13th 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm and
Thursday May 20th 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm
Objective: Have the confidence to break free of using patterns. Create a simple and elegant skirt that is custom fit to your measurements.
Cost: $50 + the cost of materials*

Exposed Elastic Waistband Skirt
Date and time: Thursday, May 27 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm
Objective: Create a full and flirty skirt. Use a gather stitch and apply a modern twist to a classic style.
Cost: $30 + the cost of materials*

*Sewing machines will be provided for those without one. We strongly encourage those with sewing machines to bring them. It is more beneficial to learn these techniques on your own machines.
