Just a reminder about our up coming sewing classes

Monday Nights: Sewing basics

Get to know your Serger
Date and Time: Monday, March 7th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: For those who have a serger but aren’t quite sure how to use it, or for those who just need a refresher, this is the class for you. In this class, the focus will be on threading the serger, troubleshooting problems, and basic serger techniques.
Cost: $30

Get to know your Sewing Machine
Date and Time: Monday, March 14th 6:00-7:30pm
Objective: Pull that old sewing machine out of the attic, we’ll show you how to use it. In this class you will learn the parts of the machine, how to thread the machine, and how to fix troublesome tension.
Cost: $30

Textile basics
Dates and times: Monday, March 21st and continued on March 28th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: This workshop is designed to help designers and seamstresses that know what they are looking for in a fabric, but don't necessarily know the correct terminology.
Learn the difference between fiber content, weaves, and finishes.
Collect samples of over fifty different textiles
Recognize fabrics by sight, touch and even smell

Tuesday Nights: Skirts

Pencil Skirt
Date and Time: Tuesday, March 15th and continued on March 22nd 6:00-8:00 pm
Objective: Have the confidence to break free of using commercial patterns. Create a simple and elegant skirt that is custom fit to your measurements.
Cost: $50 + the cost of materials

Wednesday Nights: Knits

Intermediate Knits
Dates and times: Wednesday, March 16th and continued on March 23rd 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: For the more experienced seamstress that has not had the opportunity to work with knit fabrics, here is your chance to learn more by:
reviewing serger use and types of knit fabrics
Practicing more advanced construction and sewing techniques
Making a basic knit dress
Cost: $50 + cost of materials

Thursday Nights: Fun projects

Flower Accessory
Date and time: Thursday, March 10th 6:00-7:30 pm
Objective: Show your creative flare with a hand sewn fabric flower.
Cost: $35 materials include

Necktie
Date and time: Thursday, March 17th 6:00-8:00 pm
Objective: Learn how to make a necktie while practicing couture hand sewing techniques.
Cost: $30 + the cost of materials

Tunic
Date and time: Thursday, March 24th and continued on March 31st 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: Make the perfect spring tunic with a pattern that is customized to your measurements.
Cost: $50 + cost of materials

Box Blouse
Date and time: Tuesday March 29th and continued on Wednesday, March 30th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: Come and make a simple blouse that we have absolutely fallen in love with here at Yellow Bird Fabrics
Cost: $50 + Cost of materials
