Fantastic Fashion Show this Saturday!
SATURDAY NOV. 13TH
THE HIVE GALLERY | TROLLEY SQUARE
FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
The Hive Gallery in partnership with SLAFD presents a 3-Part fashion event.
6:30 PM | PART 1 | Style Wars
The Girly Show will feature first, Style Wars a local fashion designing contest wher contestants will design in the theme of STRIPES to help promote cat adoption with our sponsor, The Humane Society of Utah.
7:00 PM | PART 2 | Apprentice Spotlight
The second venue is Apprentice Spotlight, sponsored by SLAFD to help promote new up and coming local fashion designers to the professional clothier community.
7:30 PM | PART 3 | Fall 2010 Cocktail & Evening Wear Collection
The final venue is the main part of the show and will feature 6-8 Association member designers cocktail and evening wear collection.
Public is welcome to attend all shows and to shop designer retail space in Trolley Square main floor atrium.

Monday Nights: Sewing Techniques
Get to Know Your Sewing Machine
Date and Time: Monday, November 8th 6:00-7:30pm
Objective: For those who have a sewing machine but aren’t sure how to use it, or those who just need a refresher, this is the class for you. In this class you will learn things like threading the machine and dealing with troublesome tension.
Cost: $25
Get to Know Your Serger
Date and Time: Monday, November 15th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: For those who have a serger but aren’t quite sure how to use it, or for those who just need a refresher this is the class for you. In this class, the focus will be on threading the serger, troubleshooting problems, and basic serger techniques.
Cost: $25
Zippers
Date and Time: Monday, November 22nd 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: Learn to put in a lapped zipper and an invisible zipper
Cost: $35 (all materials included)
Hems
Date and time: Monday, November 29th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: This class will teach you different ways to hem a garment. These include:
Turned and stitched edge
Easing a hem
Covered hem edges such as Hong Kong Finish
Double stitched hem
Finishing a hem using horse hair braid
Tuesday Nights: Skirt Classes
Gore Skirt
Date and time: Tuesday, November 9th 6:00-8:00pm and continued on Tuesday, November 16th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: Have the confidence to break free of using patterns. Create a simple and elegant skirt that is custom fit to your measurements.
Cost: $50 + the cost of materials
A-line Skirt
Date and time: Tuesday, November 23rd 6:00-8:00pm and continued on Tuesday, November 30th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: Have the confidence to break free of using patterns. Create a simple and elegant skirt that is custom fit to your measurements.

Wednesday Nights: Knit Classes
Knits for beginners
Dates and times: Wednesday, November 10th 6:00-8:00pm and continued on Wednesday, November 17th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: For those who are just learning to sew with knits, broaden your knowledge by:
Learning basic types of knit fabrics
Discussing what projects can be made with knits
Using a serger and practicing basic finishing techniques
Projects: A basic t-shirt, the building block for all knit projects
Cost: $50 +cost of materials
Thursday Nights: Fun Projects
Tie Making Class
Date and time: Thursday, November 11th
Objective: Learn how to make a necktie while practicing couture hand sewing techniques.
Cost: $30 +the cost of materials
Stitch-n-Witch
Date and time: Thursday, November 18th 6:00-8:00pm
Objective: Do you need help with your sewing projects? Bring them in and we can help!
Cost: It´s free and fun for all!
